American Writers Study the Source

Directions: Place the Mayflower Compact into its historical context through a close reading of some primary sources that preceded and followed it. First, read and consider the text of the Mayflower Compact. Then, click on the icon in the left-hand column to explore some of the existing conditions that led to the Mayflower Compact. Finally, consider the effects of the Compact by clicking on the icons in the right-hand column. Use the Questions for Textual Analysis to draw some conlcusions about what you have learned by studying the source!
