Russell Kirk moved to the home of four generations of Kirks in Mecosta, Michigan, a town of about 450, in 1953 after the publication of his book The Conservative Mind. Annette Kirk founded the Russell Kirk Center for Cultural Renewal after his death and continues to hold seminars for students and scholars and to publish Kirk's quarterly journal The University Bookman.
