The Harmony Gold Theater, a premier facility for screening 35mm films produced by the major motion picture companies, is located on Sunset Boulevard, in Hollywood. Hollywood in the 30s and 40s played a vital role in the life of Ayn Rand and the dissemination of her ideas, both through her novel, The Fountainhead, which came out in 1943, and the movie version, which hit the screens in 1949 (with Gary Cooper as the lead). The politics of her time, including the impact of the Communist scares on Hollywood, sets the stage for our look at Ayn Rand.
